Intothepill presents Greek Contemporary Video Art

For this show uqbar invited the artists’ platform intothepill who is presenting a selection of greek contemporary video art with contributions by Marina Gioti, Yiannis Isidorou, Lina Theodorou, Tassos Langis, George Drivas, Yiannis Grigoriadis, Stefanos Tsivopoulos, Vassiliea Stylianidou, Yorgos Sapoutzis, Ioanna Myrka, Katerina Kana, Nina Kotamanidou, Panagiota Tzamourani, Mary Zygouri, Sifis Lykakis, and Nikolaos Tzaferidis (Vinsky).

Intothepill was founded in 2006 with the aim to develop a common ground of exchange and collaboration, and to create networks and to foster research and experimentation among artists involved with new media. The core of the research team of intothepill is made up of Yiannis Isidorou, Lina Theodorou, Yiannis Grigoriadis, Katerina Iliopoulou.

NETZWERKTREFFEN 'MEDIENKUNST IN BERLIN'

am 20.11.09, 20 Uhr gab es im general public (Schönhauser Allee 167c) im Rahmen von DOCK - Platform und der Vorstellung des 'Wegweiser Medienkunst (Berlin)' ein erstes Treffen für ein sich im Aufbau befindendes Netzwerk zur Medienkunst in Berlin.

Um die Vernetzung weiter voranzutreiben möchte ich Sie herzlich einladen, am Montag, den 22.02.2010 um 20:00 h in die Werkstatt für audiovisuelle Medien des Kulturwerk des bbk berlin, Mariannenplatz 2/ Bethanien (in der Druckwerkstatt) zu kommen. Der Abend soll Gelegenheit bieten uns gegenseitig kennen zu lernen, Produktionsorte von Medienkunst zu besuchen und uns weiter zu vernetzen.

Im Verlauf des Abends ist neben Raum für Gespräche eine kleine Vorstellung der 'Werkstatt für audiovisuelle Medien' sowie zwei weiterer Institutionen/ Organisationen, die sich im Feld der Medienkunst bewegen, geplant. Ich bitte Sie daher sich bei mir zu melden, sofern Sie Interesse haben ihre Arbeit näher vorzustellen und/ oder an diesem Termin kommen möchten -

Idee ist es, diesen offenen Netzwerkabend mit einem jeweils anderen Gastgeber fortzuführen.

DIEHL Paintings 2008 - 2010

Parallel zur Eröffnung der Ausstellung von H. J. DIEHL zeigt Campagne Première im Kabinett eine Auswahl von Filmen des US-Experimentalfilmers STAN BRAKHAGE (1933 - 2003). Die bahnbrechenden filmischen Techniken, die Brakhage in den 60er Jahren entwickelte - darunter das direkte Malen und Kleben auf den transparenten Filmstreifen - betonen die Bedeutung des Einzelbildes innerhalb der filmischen Sequenz. Entgegen der traditionellen Nutzung von Film als narratives Medium erzeugt er ein Gleiten von nicht identifizierbaren Formen, das eher abstrakten Gemälden oder musikalischen Kompositionen verwandt ist. Campagne Première freut sich, während der Eröffnung der Ausstellung mit neuen Arbeiten von H. J. DIEHL eine Auswahl von Filmen aus vier Jahrzehnten zu zeigen.

Life and Death in Venice by Ming Wong

Ming Wong’s 3-screen video installation is a revisitation of Luchino Visconti’s 1971 film, which was based on Thomas Mann’s novella, Death in Venice, first published in 1912. The book/film’s narrative follows aging protagonist, Aschenbach, on his sojourn to Venice where he meets and secretly pursues Tadzio, a young boy whose uncorrupted youth and beauty becomes his inverse reflection. Years have withered him, and wrestling himself, Aschenbach struggles painfully in his final stages to reconcile the triumphs and failures of his personal and professional life as an artist.

20 years too old and too young to be either Aschenbach or Tadzio, Ming Wong plays the parts of both characters in his latest work Life and Death in Venice. Entirely self-directed, produced and conceived while his presentation Life of Imitation for the Singapore Pavilion at the 53rd Venice Biennale was still on-going, Wong’s new piece puts a decidedly self-reflexive and biographical spin on the notion of ‘arriving’ and ‘departing’ in one’s artistic career and personal life. The work boldly delves into his inner expressivities and uncertainties, laying bare the artist in a state of crisis as he negotiates a growing consciousness of age, the trajectories of change in his private adult life and his professional development.
