Jeremy Shaw explores altered states and the cultural and scientific practices that aspire to, or attempt to map transcendental experience. Using strategies of conceptual art, documentary film, music video and scientific research, he addresses topics ranging from psychedelic drug use and brain imaging to straight edge hardcore, and time travel. His multi-faceted practice often plays with the grey area between scientific and populist representations of the profound, considering each domain with equal validity.
Jeremy Shaw (b. 1977, Canada; lives in Berlin) will present an »abstract artist talk« including examples of his own work as well as various inspirations and influences.
